For patients aged 18 and over, hormone therapy is provided using an informed consent model. This allows GPs to prescribe and manage care without requiring letters from psychologists or psychiatrists. In some cases, people with complex health needs may require input from additional specialists. Physical examinations of the chest, breasts or genitals are not required to begin care.

Hormone initiation involves a detailed assessment and a personalised management plan to ensure safety and alignment with individual goals. Most people can begin treatment by their second or third appointment if desired.

We provide gender-affirming healthcare to patients under 18 years of age. While we are unable to initiate puberty blockers or hormone therapy for this age group, our GPs offer supportive, holistic care and can arrange referrals to appropriate specialist providers if you would like to explore these treatments further and when they are clinically indicated.
